Horse Training
The key to Art’s approach is fairness. He defines this as the horse always having an opportunity to be happy and healthy. His training program is based entirely on this philosophy.
Art has been professionally involved with horses since 1966. He has worked as a farrier, a breeding stallion manager, and has been training full-time since 1980.
Art has trained horses for reining, cutting, working cow horse, western riding, western pleasure, trail, jumping, dressage, jousting, vaulting, driving, and racing, and has also trained gaited horses.
Art's career successes include over 30 championships and reserve championships won by him and his students at both regional and national levels.
Art was Reining Champion at the NRCHA World Championship Futurity (1982), Reserve World Champion Working Cow Horse at the AQHA World Championship Show (1985), four-time PCQHA Working Cow Horse and Snaffle Bit Reining Year End Champion, Regional Arab Reining and Cutting Champion, Redwood Empire Cutting Horse Champion, and two-time North Bay Reining Year End Champion.
One of his other noteworthy accomplishments is the training of two draft horses that have won money in National Reining Horse Association shows, ridden by owner Kelly Bailey.
Art was inducted into the Sonoma Horse Council Hall of Fame in 2007.
